Day 30: A Snowy U.S.
Another non-technical discussion to atone for the last few days!
I have shown this map before (after all the snow the country had the last week of 2009) but in light of the last snow storm, I thought it would be interesting to view again.
Below is the National Snow Analysis for 30 January 2010. You can clearly see the track of higher accumulations across the southern United States. It’s going to be a few more days before a significant amount of that snow is going to melt!

Patrick Marsh is a Ph.D. student at the University of Oklahoma's School of Meteorology. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Physics (cum laude) from the University of Arkansas in 2005 and a Masters of Science in Meteorology in 2007.
